Young David Harper loved the farm and dreamed of the day when he would grow up to be the best farmer in Nebraska, and would make Harper farm the finest in that part of the country. No amount of hardships could dampen his ardent enthusiasm, but his father, feeling that the struggle against storm and flood and draught was too bitter, moved his family to the city.
