The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

The beguiling story of Martha in Paris cried out for a sequel, so that curious readers could follow more of the adventures of the child Martha left on the doorstep of Eric Taylor's apartment house in Paris. Martha, Eric and George is every bit as amusingly written as its predecessor and even more exciting.

From the first, Eric (whom Martha met through an unconventional adoration of long, hot baths) is a reluctant and disinterested father, but Mama Taylor takes young George, named after the King, to her heart with a vengeance. Eventually Martha, who with the passage of years has become enormously successful as an artist in London, is persuaded to exhibit in Paris and to attend the showing of some of her works. Eric brings George to see her there and the crucial meetings provide a most unpredictable ending for this engaging new Margery Sharp novel, which sparkles with wit and warmth.

Always versatile, Miss Sharp has also written many other novels, plays, and such truly civilized fantasies as The Rescuers, Miss Bianca, and The Turret, a trilogy illustrated by Garth Williams.
