The Time Traveller Book of Pharaohs and Pyramids is set at the time of the New Kingdom, the most prosperous and powerful period of ancient Egyptian history. It sets out to explain in simple language what it was like to live at that time. Besides home life, it covers such topics as war, agriculture and religion. It shows how the pyramids were built, and explains how hieroglyphic writing worked.
The illustrations for the book are the result of wide and careful research. They are based on contemporary wall paintings, stone reliefs and sculptures, as well as on the remains of temples and tombs.
