Though his parents aren''t supportive of the idea, Randy badly wants a dog; he even has a name picked out and the dog to go with it in his mind. When he finds a bedragged collie, he sadly but dutifully tries to find him a home. But Chief, as he calls the collie, has a certain style that puts off everyone but the love-struck Randy.
Well-written, with excellent illustrations by Charles Geer.
