Bible Study

Bible study is essential to Christian life and foundational to a good Christian curriculum. To have a proper view of the world and their place in it, students need to have a proper view of the Bible and its significance. We don't study Scripture simply as a "religious text," but as God's written revelation. We do not merely study the Bible as a piece of literature. The Bible studies us. The Scriptures open us up and reveal the truth about ourselves as well as about everything else.

Education in Western culture centers around the use of words. The Bible is the Word of God. Without the Bible, there is no Western Culture. Therefore, as Christians, we need to be fluent in Scripture before we can begin to understand and evaluate the culture we live in. While it is true that the Bible is not a textbook or a source of exhaustive knowledge on any subject, it is the standard and source of God's truth by which we assess all knowledge.

Titus 2:4-8 admonishes older men and women to teach younger people to be sober-minded, sound in doctrine, reverent, etc. Doubtless, parents belong to the class of older men and women who are to teach and children are the younger ones who are to be taught. The sooner this education starts, the further children will advance as they grow. Because it is the responsibility of parents to teach the Scriptures to their children, it is important that they themselves be educated. Therefore, much of what we offer is parent-oriented.

Our selection of Bible curricula and study aids must pass through our scrutiny for quality and usability, and only those we can whole-heartedly recommend do we carry new. Used books have not always been looked through as closely, and we desire feedback from those of you who know the material. Many of these the materials we offer are not curricula per se, but tools and resources that can be used for guided biblical education. It is fervent hope and confidence that these materials will be an aid to Christian parents as they seek to teach them the Bible (Deut. 6).

Review by C. Hollis Crossman
C. Hollis Crossman used to be a child. Now he is a husband and father, teaches adult Sunday school in his Presbyterian congregation, and likes weird stuff. He might be a mythical creature, but he's definitely not a centaur. Read more of his reviews here.
