In writing this, the fourth title in his "Strange Stories From Nature Series," the author has not attempted to delve into the classification or the Latin or scientific names, but instead has endeavored to describe the unusual, little-known, and astonishing lives of strange birds of our own and other countries, and has selected only those that may be seen in their natural haunts, zoological gardens, or museums.
Many of these birds are common to our land, and Mr. Verrill weaves around them an interesting pattern of their habits, migrations, etc., interwoven with many personal anecdotes of his own and other naturalists' observations.
Written in the same interesting style as his previous works, this title will be greeted with the same enthusiasm by all lovers of Nature, both old and young, and will stimulate the reader to a further study of those most interesting and useful friends of mankind, the birds.
