The card game version of Puerto Rico—less expensive and less mess! Players are plantation owners inSan Juanduring the days when ships had sails. Growing up to five different kind of crops, they must try to run their business more efficiently than their close competitors; growing crops and storing them, developing San Juan with useful buildings, and selling crops at the right timefor maximum profit and benefit.

The pack of 110 cards consists of production buildings (indigo, sugar, tobacco, coffee, and silver) and "violet" buildings that grant special powers or extra victory points. Cards from the hand can be either built or used as money to build something else. Cards from the deck are used to represent goods produced by the production buildings, in which case they are left face-down. A seven-card hand limit is enforced once per round.

In each round (or governorship), each player in turn selects from one of the available roles, triggering an event that usually affects all players, such as producing goods or building. The person who picks the role gets a privilege, such as producing more goods or building more cheaply.

Though similar in concept to Puerto Rico, the game has many different mechanics. In particular, there are no colonists and no shipping of goods; goods production and trading are normally limited to one card per phase; and trades cannot be blocked.

Victory points are gained exclusively by building, and the game ends as soon as one player has put up 12 buildings.

  Innovative Card Game

This is a card game version of the award winning Puerto Rico, long considered THE best board game out there. This card game version holds up well, and takes a card game in a new direction. You are building a production empire in Puerto Rico, growing, processing and selling different goods most efficiently. Cards in your had can be used in several ways in this game: you can build them from your hand has buildings (each card has a building on it), or you can pay for buildings with them (each building costs 1-6 cards to build), or you "sell" a "good card" from your production plants to get more cads into your hand.
That might sound confusing, and it is a little tricky to learn from the rule book, but its a lot of fun. It plays well with 2-4 and doesn't play too long.
It plays very similar, but easier than Race for the Galaxy, another great card game.
