The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

"There are many who sing of grass, of grass,
And many who sing of corn;
But many who sing of Robin Hood
Know not where he was born."

Beginning with the story of Robin's birth, Ian Serraillier has retold the adventures of the legendary outlaw hero and the band of merry men who roamed the forest of Sherwood. His source is the medieval ballads which first chronicled Robin Hood's exploits, and his swinging and vigorous verse captures all the liveliness, excitement and humor of the original.

Besides Robin Hood, the stories tell of Little John who was seven feet high, the strapping Friar Tuck, the sheriff of Nottingham who was Robin's great enemy, and the treacherous Guy of Gisborne. There is the tale of Robin's quarrel with Little John and what came out of it, the lesson taught to the greedy butchers, and the incident of the bishop who danced in his boots, as well as many other stories of the greenwood. "The Last Arrow" brings the account of bold Robin Hood's adventures to a fitting close.
