The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

The vast territory of Canada claims nearly four million square miles and is one-sixth larger than the United States. It touches three oceans — the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic — and includes some of the most legendary and significant places in the world, such as the Northwest and Yukon territories. But the story of the development of Canada is no legend. Nearly a century has gone into building the Canadian nation, into spanning its vast distances and joining its diverse races in a common endeavor to make Canada a leading voice in the world.

It was through the discovery by John Cabot of the world's most remarkable fishing ground, off the coast of Newfoundland, that Canada's story begins. From there the French and the British reached further inland and along the many waterways to discover and name these new territories as their own. It wasn't until 1867 that the provinces were united into the Dominion of Canada. Explorers, whalers, fur traders, and missionaries helped make the map of Canada and pushed on to the northernmost boundary on the Arctic Ocean. They, like the pioneers of the United States, left tales of bravery and endurance that will remain an important part of Canadian History.
