A penniless miller's son inherits what appears to be an ordinary cat from his poor father. "I can change your fortunes," claims the self-assured cat. The young man is doubtful, but believes anything is worth a try. Along the away this clever puss faces many obstacles, including impressing a king and outwitting a horrible ogre, to help his new master.
