Landmark Reprints

For over half a century, Landmark Books have been an important part of children’s libraries. Hailed as the first historical series for kids, Landmark Books show us where we’ve been and where we’re going. And educators continue to trust the Landmark name and engage their students with the timeless biographies in the series.

Landmarks were originally published by Random House in the fifties and early sixties. They were published in three series: the American books with 122 titles, the World Landmarks with 63, and the Landmark Giants with 25. Since then, Random House has kept the name alive, adding other titles (the books titled "Meet ..." are originally from the "Step-Up Books" series and not really Landmarks at all) and reprinting some of the most popular titles. Sterling Publishing published the "Sterling Point" books, many of which are Landmark reprints, though these have mostly gone out of print again. Other publishers like Beautiful Feet and Purple House Press have quietly reprinted a landmark or two, sometimes with new titles. We are attempting to locate all of these in-print and make them available, because we believe the Landmark series is one of the best collection of children's histories ever written.

Writers in the Landmark series include such notable authors as:

Other writers in the series, though less well known, are generally first-rate." —Kathy Artner, Reader's Guide to American History.

NOTE: This list links to all of the reprinted books we carry. We also often have a number of original editions of the Landmark books, usually priced from about $8-$15 each (though some can be much pricier!). On hand supply varies.
