Stories of Robin Hood in a lively retelling that chronicles the events of the time in which Robin Hood lived. Describes how and why he came to live in the Greenwood, and the adventures he had there with Little John, Maid Marian, and the Sheriff of Nottingham.

DEAR JOS,

Robin Hood was a real man. The stories about him are very old. They were written many, many years ago by men whose names have been forgotten. The old letters in which they were printed are very difficult to read, but now, in this little book, you will find the stories easy both to read and to understand. The poetry is in the same words as it was in those old books.

Robin Hood lived in times very different from ours. In the first chapter of this book I have told you about those times, and how and why Robin came to live in the Green Wood, and to have all his wonderful adventures.

If you do not care about the "how and why," you must begin the book at its second chapter, but I hope you will begin at the beginning, for the more you know about brave Robin, the more you will love and admire him.

Your loving Aunt,

H. E. MARSHALL

I adore this book because it felt like I was doing the adventures instead of Robin Hood! He was nice to those who were nice to him, but he wasn't always super nice because he hunted in the King's woods, which he was not allowed to do. One thing that was super funny was when Robin was in danger and he went to a woman's house and she offered to loan her clothes to Robin and she could be in his clothes as a trick to keep him safe! I thought it was funny because a man should put the woman first, but it was her choice! There is nothing wrong with this book, but one thing that was sad was when he died. Someone was a surgeon and killed him during the operation. It is at the end, so you can read lots of good parts before you get to the sad part in the last chapter.
