From the inside of the front cover:

WILLIAMSBURG is a real town in Virginia almost magically restored to the days of its greatest glory. Each year thousands of children and their parents visit the eighteenth-century setting made famous by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, and other patriots.

All of the buildings have been reproduced as they were 200 years ago when America was ruled by the British king.  Visitors can walk through them and see how the people of those early days worked and played, what they ate and wore. The printer, the blacksmith, the wigmaker, the baker, the cabinet maker and other tradesmen, each dressed in costume, carry on work as in colonial days. All of this restoration was made possible through the generosity of John D. Rockefeller, Jr.

LITTLE LOST KITTEN is a picture story for young children of an adventure in Williamsburg in the days of George Washington. It is published with the approval and collaboration of COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG.
