The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Jako lives in Greenland where every small boy's ambition is to be a great hunter. But although he kills a walrus in the first chapter of this story and is quite a hero, Jako wants to be an artist. This is the story of his family, his adventures, and especially of his ambition-come-true. In this book we see the cold, stark land of Greenland, and the life of the people who live there, but also through the eyes of Jako, the artist, we see the beauty of this country, the lights and shadows on the ice, the miracle of the northern lights, the happy philosophy of the people. Here is an intimate picture of a lovely land north of us.
