Dr. Ernest Omar, noted Boston physician. Day in and day out his whispered prayers and skilled, surgeon's hands man- aged to save many a life from the ravages of dreaded cancer. But how would he be saved from the stress and turmoil of daily life that threatened to engulf him and his loved ones?

Barbara, everything a doctor's wife should be: beautiful, gracious mistress of the Omar household and mistress of Ernest Omar's heart of hearts. She was willing to do anything her husband asked of her—but what if it meant the estrangement of her only child?

Gail, the doctor's impetuous daughter. She mirrored her mother's Scandinavian loveliness and her dad's keen dedication to serve mankind. Now she was torn: between parental loyalty and personal freedom, between honesty in love and living a lie. . . .

Doug Rhodes, the handsome young man in the sports car who just happened to be the most selfless, devoted preacher the little town of Earthend could ever hope for, and the man Gail wanted to spend the rest of her life with!

The Golden Acre is an old-fashioned love story that spans the generation gap—the older generation's quest for peace and security, and youth's desire for independence and love. Ernest's and Barbara's search leads them to the rolling hills of New Hampshire, to a sunny yellow house in a valley embraced by piney woods. How could they foresee in their wildest imaginings that Gail would reject their Golden Acre for one of her own making? And Doug with his lofty ideals and wide-open honesty—would he ever be able to love the beautiful, though mysterious, girl who so closely guarded the secret of her past?

In the end, would they all realize that they were searching for one and the same thing-the love that makes it possible for human beings to find a piece of heaven—a Golden Acre—amid the cares and worries of this far from perfect world of ours?
