"This is the true-to-life story of a bluegill and how he lived."

The author, a conservationist, writes about fish ecology and food chains in a small pond on a farm through a story narrative.  The story stars Bobby Bluegill, one of many thousands of fish born in the pond one spring, and Jerry, a boy who lives on the farm.  Jerry learns about the food chains and pond environment and how to maintain healthy conditions for the fish and other animals surrounding the pond.

The book has no dust jacket and has rubbing along the edges and spine.  Inside it is clean except for a few light crayon markings on the front endpaper.  Hinges are intact and the binding is solid.
