The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Beggar's King is a culmination; the fruit of many factors affecting a restless life. It is the natural outgrowth of an insatiable desire on the part of the author for reading, a passion for history, more than a decade of pastoring small churches, a major illness, and a dearth of New Testament novels for today untinged with modern doubt.

The story takes place during the time of Christ. It features Leah, a crippled beggar girl whose crippled father sits daily at the Beautiful Gate begging alms. Into her hectic life comes Rachel, a young woman of about Leah's age, of the ruling class. There's a plot afoot with a strong nationalistic objective, which briefly envelops Leah. How it all works out is an intensely absorbing narrative, including faith in the Nazarene and a surprise ending. The author has done a tremendous amount of research to make his background and characters as authentic as humanly possible.
