American History Reference

For a country less than 250 years old, the United States has a lot of history. From a collection of backwater colonies to the dominant world power, its story is fascinating, extensive, and as diverse as the ethnicities and races represented by its population. Most of our American history books are divided according to specific periods or events (the Colonial Period, Civil War, etc.); this section acts as a catch-all for reference works and overviews of the history of the nation.

Whether you're looking for resources to supplement a broader study, crafts to help illustrate particular events or figures, reference works for putting names and dates together, or just plain collections of fun facts, this is the place to look. Imagine it as a reject heap for American history books—you might be frustrated if you're looking for something specific, but if you're willing to browse there are some genuine treasures hidden among the rejected titles.
