Zeee was a bad fairy—bad about people, that is—and proud of it! Though she screamed into their large ears or stung them, she was so tiny that they never even noticed her existence. More times than she could remember, she had been forced to move and always because of some clumsy person. Her lovely little pagoda tent of dock leaves at the edge of the Blastovers' lawn, for instance, was destroyed by a clip of the shears. Then the deserted pail in which she lived at the seashore was gleefully seized upon by a large family of picnicking children—and once again Zeee was homeless. Each time she would gather up her milkweed-pod bed, her crab-shell table with acorn legs—whatever was left of her precious furniture—and find another home. But at length even such sweet revenge as sending Nang, the black ant, to torment the picnickers failed to comfort her. Weary and discouraged, she made a careless move that almost proved to be her last!

How Zeee found a permanent home and a real friend makes a fairy tale of pure enchantment, told with perfection of detail, flawless imagination, and precision of style. Glowingly illustrated with luminous full color and sensitive line drawings by Irene Haas, Zeee is a perfect companion to the author and artist's widely acclaimed first fairy tale, Tatsinda, and, like it, will become an enduring favorite.
