Staff Favorites: Christian Material

To say there are a variety of opinions among the staff of Exodus Books is like saying a few immigrants were processed at Ellis Island. We are, however, united in one thing: Christ. Each of us may come from different backgrounds and traditions, but all of us want to serve God, understand Him, and be known by Him. Some important books have contributed to each employee's spiritual growth, and they're listed below.

No book is perfect, and no reader of books is perfectly objective or informed. Still, those books that reflect a dedication to Jesus and His Word, while not able to fix all our problems or reveal heaven to our hopeful eyes, are able to guide us toward increased devotion and obedience. Anyone who thinks they can make it alright on their own without the help of past and present saints is deluded.

Each Exodus employee has taken the time to list his or her favorite Christian books and materials. These aren't exhaustive lists (especially for Jon and Caleb), but they are representative. Under each individual list you'll find a brief spiritual bio of sorts for that employee, by which you can judge whether or not they're a heretic and get a sense of where they're coming from.

A few former Exodus employees are still included here. The company is still in its formative stages, and each person who's worked here has shaped the store in some way, often times substantially. We think it's important you know the kinds of people who've made what used to be a tiny bookstore into what it is now, and can see how they became those people.

Most of all, we hope this section can open some dialogue between ourselves and you. There is no greater topic than God and the Christian faith, and we want our bookstore to be a place where the King of Heaven is regularly discussed in love. So, don't just scan these lists and leave it at that: read the books, compare them to Scripture, and talk about them with each other, with us, and with the rest of the world.
