Rachel Field, born on September 19th, 1894, was an American poet, novelist, and author of children's fiction. She is best remembered for her Newberry Medal winning novel for young adults, , published in 1930. Field was also a successful author of adult fiction; she wrote the bestsellers Time Out of Mind (1935), All This and Heaven Too (1938), and And Now Tomorrow (1942). She died in 1942 at age 47, after a surgical operation.
