From his early childhood to becoming general of the Confederate army to retiring as president of Washington College, this picture book retells the life of this great man in simple, informative text and appealing illustrations that children will enjoy and take interest in. This is a fairly unbiased biography, explaining that Robert E. Lee was not a part of the pro-slavery side of the war, but rather felt convicted to defend his home and country. This book not only goes over Robert E. Lee’s life during the war, but also his accomplishments before and after, and by quoting the statements of the people who knew him, highly praises this great man of valor. This is an ideal way to introduce children to this stalwart Christian leader, and also supplement their study of the Civil War.
