These supplemental projects are most suitable for Middle and Older students but all ages will enjoy the coloring pages and Younger students could complete the crafts with some assistance. Beautifully illustrated mini-lessons, directions, and materials list are provided for each project. (Supplies are not included.)
Students will Build a Medieval Siege Tower; Make a Faux Metal Indian Bell; Create an Islamic Tile; Paint a Byzantine Icon; Design a Viking Rune stone; Sculpt a Maori Plaque or Pendant; Construct a Japanese Sagemono; and Make Mesoamerican Clay Stamps. Thirty-five printable coloring pages included. Consider these projects difficult enough for a high school half credit in art. For a half-credit, the author recommends one project per month.
