Q: Why did you explore the unknown area?
Lewis: President Jefferson wanted to know what was in this unexplored area.
Q: Why did you choose Clark to help you on your journey?
Lewis: Clark used to be in the army.
Q: Why did you build shelter with the indians instead of building a small shelter?
Clark: Because it would take less time and it would also be able to allow us to get to know the indians and not be attacked by them.
Q: Why did you build small boats instead of extending your large boat?
Clark: We knew we would need the small boats for going down little streams and through passes that we could not get our large boat through.
