The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If you need to see photos of the actual book or have questions about the condition, please call or email.
The King's Fountain is a middle-eastern story of a humble man who searches for a means to convince the king of his folly in desiring to build a fountain that will cut off a city's water supply. He appeals to various villagers and ultimately realizes that even though he is not the smartest, the most eloquent, or the strongest, the task is up to him. The story is a wonderful lesson in doing what needs to be done, regardless of our limitations or fears.
This classic by the late American children's author, Lloyd Alexander, is a gem that will teach both children and adults what it means to speak truth to power.
