Geoffrey Trease

Geoffrey Trease published his first book for children, Bows Against the Barons, in 1934 and since then he has written some dozens of historical novels for the young, the most recent of which, Mandeville, was published by Macmillan in 1980. He is also the author of several volumes of biography for older children, and of two volumes of autobiography, as well as numerous other books and plays for adults. Mr. Trease was born and brought up in Nottingham; during the last war spent some time with the army in India and he also worked in teaching before becoming a full-time writer. He now lives near Malvern in Worcestershire with his wife, and they have one daughter and four grand-daughters.
