The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Told from the viewpoint of young Dickon of Oxton, this story tells a late story of Robin Hood and his Sherwood band as they lead an uprising against Sir Rolf, baron of D'Eyncourt Castle, then the Archbishop of York and Earl of Wessex, before Robin's final adventure.

****************

Geoffrey Trease is one of the most famous writers in the world of books for young people. His historical novels have been published in eighteen countries, including Russia.

Bows Against the Barons is a rousing story of medieval England, of the clash between the rich and the poor, and above all of Robin Hood, leader of the people, presented as Geoffrey Trease believes he might have been.

Bows Against the Barons is the first book Geoffrey Trease ever wrote, and it was first published in 1934. The drawings and jacket for this edition are by C. Walter Hodges, a winner of the Kate Greenaway Medal for illustration, and himself a distinguished historical novelist.
