Flip, the colt, liked to get up early.

He woke his mother, he woke the pig, he even woke the rooster!

"One day, Willie the goat, who never liked to get up until at least ten o'clock, decided that he must do something about Flip's getting up so early.

This story is full of morning sunshine and the fun of being young and going exploring. Wesley Dennis's pictures of the farm animals, especially those of Flip, are delightful.

Mr. Dennis has a farm of his own in Warrenton, Virginia. He has all sorts of animals there, but, as you can see from these pictures, horses are his favorites.
