Crossway Books is unique among notable Christian publishing houses in that it began, and continues to be, a ministry. A lot of "Christian" publishers are simply the religious arm of huge secular outfits, and their aim seems to be to make as much money as possible, rather than to advance the truth of the Gospel and the reality of Christ's kingdom. Crossway, on the other hand, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the historic, evangelical Christian faith.
Begun in 1938 by Clyde and Muriel Dennis in the face of low funds, poor health, and the Great Depression, Crossway has become a reliable publisher and distributor of Christian materials that are sound in doctrine and aesthetically pleasing in appearance. Anyone who has picked up a title published by Crossway will know that the dedication to publishing books and other resources attractively has only increased over the years.
Maybe our favorite thing about Crossway here at Exodus Books is their willingness and excitement to publish the English Standard Bible in several of its iterations, including the ESV Study Bible which has proven itself to be a sound and excellent resource. If you're looking for bestsellers and fluff, you won't find it here; you will find books dedicated to the beauty of Christ, the support and strengthening of His church, and the relentless spread of Gospel truth to the ends of the earth.
