Classics Retold

While we are not generally fans of adaptations or abridgements, we love a good retelling. And over the years, we've discovered a number of authors who do an excellent job recreating the worlds of the greats. These are often authors who have written plenty on their own—like Rosemary Sutcliff, Michael Morpugo, Barbara Cohen, Mary Pope Osborn and E. Nesbit—but also include authors who specialize(d) in retellings—like Padriac Colum, Geraldine McCaughrean, Roger Green, and Alfred Church.
