This gem of lyric prose has enchanted both young and old for over half a century and is now a modern classic. Dylan Thomas (1914–1953), one of the greatest poets and storytellers of the twentieth century, captures a child’s-eye view and an adult’s fond memories of a magical time of presents, aunts and uncles, the frozen sea, and in the best of circumstances, newly fallen snow. Illustrations throughout.

Edward Ardizzone, the distinguished artist, has brilliantly illustrated the first picture book edition of A Child's Christmas in Wales. This magical account of Dylan Thomas's own childhood and of a Christmas Day in a small Welsh town has become a modern classic.
Dylan Thomas, perhaps best known for his play for voices Under Milk Wood, was born in Swansea, Wales, in 1914. He wrote short stories—many of them autobiographical—and poetry, winning acclaim both abroad and in the United States, where he died in 1953.
Edward Ardizzone has been writing and illustrating books for children for many years. In 1956 he was awarded the Kate Greenaway medal for Tim All Alone. During World War II he was an official war artist, and a diary of his experiences was published in 1974. In addition to his own stories, Edward Ardizzone has illustrated well over 130 books.
