The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

Becky and Fanny Griswold are two of the most lovable heroines who ever lived in a story. They are "the parson's daughters," members of a large family of eight children and they have many absorbing adventures. They ride on the first train in Deep River Valley, see a circus parade and bring Christmas, for the first time, to Blueberry Corners. They even manage to have adventures when they are picking blueberries.

The book gives a lively and truthful picture of life in the Connecticut hill country in the 1840's. It is also a story of cheerfulness in adversity, and of courage, hope and trust in spite of poverty and discouragement.

Not only does Lois Lenski know and understand New England—she loves it. She brings it past lovingly to life for the modern child reader. Her large-scale drawings are full of character and charm and make the book a perfect unit.

This story will have a special appeal for younger readers—girls and boys from 8-12.

Many illustrations by the Author.
