Betsy Maestro

Betsy Maestro
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Maestro grew up with a passion for books and for reading.  She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a BA in early childhood education and then received her MA in counseling.  With that learning she went into the teaching profession where she taught kindergartens and first graders for eleven years.  Her life direction changed when she met her husband Giulio because she then ventured into the world of writing and illustrating books.

The combined talents of the Maetros have created over 100 books.  Maestro writes while Giulio often does the illustrations.  Travel has allowed them to research their books, and Maestro enjoys her time back in schools as she talks to children and at libraries about the many award-winning books she has helped produce.  Currently the Maestros live in New Mexico working on new projects.
