American History Reference

For a country less than 250 years old, the United States has a lot of history. From a collection of backwater colonies to the dominant world power, its story is fascinating, extensive, and as diverse as the ethnicities and races represented by its population. Most of our American history books are divided according to specific periods or events (the Colonial Period, Civil War, etc.); this section acts as a catch-all for reference works and overviews of the history of the nation.
