The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. Young Abe worked hard, as all pioneer children did, but still he found time to go to school and learn to read faster than anyone. He found time for mischief, too, and once made footprints on his mother's ceiling! As he grew older he worked and studied even harder, and people came to know him for his fair and honest ways and his great sense of humor. Abraham Lincoln had always believed that all men should be free. When, as President, the slavery problem threatened to divide the nation in half, Lincoln kept his position. A great war broke out, killing many Americans on both sides and causing great damage, but when it was over the nation was reunited and slavery was abolished forever.
