In a zoo you see animals, and in an oceanarium you see fish from oceans all over the world.  There are fewer oceanariums because they are expensive to maintain and many marine specimens cannot be kept alive in captivity. Most youngsters are more familiar with the entertainment side of what is called "Marineland"–they watch trained exhibitions and exciting performances of dolphins and seals, as in a circus. Behind the scenes is the scientific research being done by highly trained staffs, maintaining the water as it should be, feeding, taking care of the new born babies, and giving them medication when they are sick. Marvelous candid camera pictures at the Marineland in the Pacific illustrate this book.
