Wind in the Willows

Wind in the Willows is one of our favorite books, and it has quite the history with nearly 100 major and minor illustrators trying their hand at the book since its release in 1908 (read more here). Below, we compare one picture from each chapter (when available) of twenty-four of these (click on the pictures for larger versions). Since there are so many, we've tried to limit the editions included to only unabridged hardcover options with at least occasional color illustrations, but there are a few versions not quite meeting these requirements that are too good not to feature! We have done our best to reach copyright holders of these images and have gotten permission for their use from many of the artists and publishers; however, we could not find or reach all.
