Tutankhamen, the youngest son of the great pharaoh Amenhotep III, is small and frail. Whenever he admires the magnificent monuments his father's craftsmen build to honor the gods, he wonders what gift someone as meek as he could evern give to the gods.
After their father's death, Tutankhamen's older brother Amenhotep IV assumes the throne. He declares that only the god of the sun may be worshipped and sets out to destroy all temples built to honor other gods. His cruel reign brings despair to the people of Egypt, until he dies mysteriously, and Tutankhamen becomes pharaoh. But can a mere boy of ten restore the temples and the people's faith, and discover what his gift to the gods will be as well?
Robert Sabuda's simple text and magnificent artwork bring the story of Egypt's most famous pharaoh to life for young readers.
