The hero of this story interacts with the events of the Mysore War as he seeks to find his father, a ship-wrecked sea-captain held captive by the tyrant Tippoo. Along the way, he kills a tiger, becomes an officer in Tippoo's army, escapes with a young English girl, and has many other adventures before returning home.
