An ox gets himself into ridiculous situations made worse when he listens to the advice of his friend the fox.
"Let me think," said the fox to the ox. "There must be a way to get rocks out of socks." But the advice of the fox does little to help, and soon the ox has more than rocks to complain of. He has a tack in his back, a rail on his tail, and much more, until a bird hopping by points out a simple solution to an absurd situation.
Delightful nonsense by the author of the popular "Stand Back," Said the Elephant," I'm Going to Sneeze!" with appropriately zany pictures by the illustrator of such favorites as Something Queer Happened at the Library.
