Thea Van Halsema

Van Halsema married her husband Dick and then traveled with him to New York and Florida with CRC Home Missions to revitalize churches.  While he pastored, she raised their growing family.  When the Reformed Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, called Dick to serve as its president, she became the dean of students and taught in the social work department.  After over 20 years there, she and Dick founded I.D.E.A. Ministries, helping with mission promotion, recruitment, and training in the field.  Van Halsema was vice-chairperson of the Latin American Mission board.  An author of several books, including This Was John Calvin and I Will Build My Church, Van Halsema pens articles for Missionary Monthly.  Though Dick has since passed away from Parkinson's disease, Van Halsema continues to speak about, write about, and work with missions.
