This book reminds us that, as Paul put it, Christians are at war.
"We do not wage war as the world does," Paul writes. "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God . . ."
Writing for both believers and unbelievers, R. C. Sproul Jr. does three things:
- Shows how every major non-Christian worldview is self-contradictory and thus self-refuting.
- Answers the criticisms leveled against Christianity.
- Makes a positive case for the existence of God.
"My hope is to persuade others and to provide some tools to help others persuade others," writes Sproul. "My goal is not only to tear down the strongholds of the devil, and not only to repel the assaults on the very gates of hell, but to show that the foundation upon which our faith stands is firm."
"This primer on apologetics," concludes George Grant, "makes good biblical sense out of bad worldly nonsense."
