Sonlight P3/4

Capitalizing on the innate love of learning present in all children, the authors of the Sonlight P3/4 program for three and four year olds brings together picture book classics, poetry, fairy tales, games, songs, and more to stimulate curiosity and parent/child interaction. At this stage you'll have to read most or all content aloud to your kids, which is an important pre-reading activity that will prepare them academically and emotionally for what lies ahead.

Many of the titles used at this stage are anthologies, so in a mere 15 titles you'll have access to 201 stories. Nursery rhymes and cute songs on CD encourage listening skills; hands-on games improve memory; art projects promote motor skill development; etc. There are no lesson plans or workbooks, so all that's really required is spending time with your child in an environment specifically designed to promote learning.

Despite the absence of restrictive lessons and schedules, there is a Parent's Companion to help you get the most out of the materials used at this stage. Checklists, resource guides, activities, and similar tools provide a helping hand of sorts for parents who may be new to homeschooling, or have never homeschooled a very young child. The goal at this point isn't to create little Mozarts or Einsteins, but simply to promote learning and inquiry in a loving, safe environment.

Please Note: Sonlight Curriculum does not sell their materials to Exodus Books. We carry many of the same titles, and are often able to obtain used copies of books they publish. The following is culled from their 2013 websiteand includes much of their selection, though it is not comprehensive, nor is it in any sort of curricular order. For a complete listing, visit the Sonlight Curriculum website.
