When the icy splinters of an evil troll's mirror get into Kai's heart and eye, he forgets his past life and becomes trapped in the Snow Queen's palace. His best friend Gerda sets off on a long journey to find and rescue him. She makes friends with both humans and animals who help her on her way. The story is accompanied by beautiful illustrations from Bagram Ibatoulline.
