Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr were three little boys who lived in Sweden. They had blue eyes and yellow curls, and they looked very much alike.

One day, a kindly neighbor gave them some money to spend. Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr went straight to the baker to buy some gingerbread—and they fell into the batter!

Now Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr looked just like three gingerbread boys who had come to life. A beautiful princess picked them up in her coach and took them to her palace for a party.

And when the party was over, Mother knew just what to do about her gingerbread children.

Originally published in the United States in 1932, Snipp, Snapp, Snurr and the Gingerbread was the second in a series of treasured books created by Swedish author-artist Maj Lindman (1886-1972). She also wrote and illustrated stories about three little Swedish girls, Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka.

Today's young readers will find the warm, wholesome stories of these busy, independent children quaint, but immensely satisfying.
