The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent condition, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!

This book is a compression of 6,000 years of the history of the ship from tree trunk dug-out to nuclear liner – a story which resembles a family tree with innumerable branches, becoming most numerous during the years from the early nineteenth century. This book cannot hope to describe the multiplicity of ship types that were built in step with technological development. The aim has been to describe a cross-section of passenger liners, cruise liners, and cargo carriers.
