The books in this section are usually hardcover and in decent shape, though we'll sometimes offer hard-to-find books in lesser condition at a reduced price. Though we often put images of the book with their original dust jackets, the copies here won't always (or even often) have them. If that is important to you, please call ahead or say so in the order comments!
In this admirable collection of traditional fairy tales, the reader is taken on a journey round the world. He sets off from Korea and goes through China, India and Russia, on into Europe; then to Africa and across the Atlantic to the West Indies and the Americas; back through the South Pacific to Australasia and Indonesia—until he again reaches his starting-point in Korea.
Amabel Williams-Ellis is widely known and respected for her discriminating choice of less known traditional tales and lively retelling of old favorites, especially in the companion volumes, Fairy Tales from the British Isles, The Arabian Nights and Grimm's Fairy Tales. Now in Round the World Fairy Tales she has drawn on her extensive knowledge of folk-tales and legends to assemble a varied and colourful group of the kind of stories children want to hear, and which increase their understanding of other lands. These stories from an Enchanted World cannot fail to give pleasure to their readers, young and old—and that is what such tales were meant to do.
Notes on sources for grown up people and the often extraordinary history of many of the tales are given at the end.
