CATERPILLARS AND HOW THEY LIVE

"* (A noteworthy book.) The cater- pillar, as common to urban as it is to rural settings, is equally fascinating to city and country children. Mr. McClung has provided a lot of infor- mation in simple language about its general characteristics and goes on to describe specific types-what they eat, where they live, and how they defend themselves. There is a section on how to go about hunting them, and the illustrations are clear and detailed. The book is a natural for the early grade classroom science projects."

MOTHS AND BUTTERFLIES AND HOW THEY LIVE

"A brief but careful study of how but- terflies and moths fly, eat, reproduce, and struggle to survive. Detailed line drawings and diagrams enlarge the text and often explain better than words; for example the excellent drawing of a butterfly proboscis both curled and extended and the four types of butter- fly and moth antennae shown together on one page. Thirty identified species are shown and the final chapter deals with hunting and collecting specimens. A good book for the beginner interested in this subject."
