Born on May 19, 1929 in Cadiz, Ohio, Thoburn later graduated from Muskingum College and then Westminster Theological Seminary. A minister and school administrator, Thoburn started the private non-denominational Fairfax Christian School in 1961. He served in the Virginia House of Delegates for the 1979 Session, later became a member of the Council for National Policy in 1988, and is a signee/non-committee member of the Coalition on Revival, a religious think tank. This author of The Children Trap has more recently opened two more Christian schools in Loudoun County, Virginia. He died of cancer on December 23, 2012, at the age of 83.
