You've experienced conflict. Every human being is born into conflict: conflict with God, conflict with others, and conflict with themselves. Conflict is the result of the Fall and the consequence of sin, and it's a very dark reality.

But Christians can grasp the Gospel to make peace, and to restore broken relationships. It's a constant struggle, but Ken Sande is confident that by losing ourselves in God's grace we can progress in our own lives, and encourage progress in others's lives.

Resolving Everyday Conflict isn't long or technical. Using real language and illustrations, Sande shows how the Gospel prepares us to resolve conflict as Christ commands, and proves biblically that the Gospel not only addresses our eternal salvation, but empowers us to become more sanctified in this life.

There are three standard responses to conflict: escape, attack, and peacemaking. Those who escape simply turn their back on problems; those who attack exacerbate them with anger and intimidation; but peacemakers seek resolution and reconciliation.

Sande offers Four Gs for resolving conflict. We should always desire to glorify God through our actions and words. We should be quick to get the log out of our own eye, and to gently restore the broken relationship. Finally, we ought to go and be reconciled, offering forgiveness while looking for a solution.

This book is easy to read, convicting, highly practical, and intensely biblical. Sande is an excellent teacher and Christian mediator, and Resolving Everyday Conflict distills the principles of his now-classic The Peacemaker into an accessible, easily-referenced format.

C. Hollis Crossman used to be a child. Now he is a husband and father, teaches adult Sunday school in his Presbyterian congregation, and likes weird stuff. He might be a mythical creature, but he's definitely not a centaur. Read more of his reviews here.
